Its Price is Paradise...

Assalam'alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Insha'Allah, this finds in you in the best state of Iman and Ihsan.

Get yourself out of this limited world of diseases to the wide world of the hereafter, which has what the eyes have never seen. Nothing is impossible there, and love is not lost. O you who sold yourself for the sake of something that will cause you suffering and pain, and which will also lose its beauty, you sold the most precious item for the cheapest price, as if you neither knew the value of the goods nor the meanness of the price. Wait until you come on the Day of mutual loss and gain and you will discover the injustice of this contract. “There is no God but Allah” is something that Allah is buying. Its price is Paradise, and the Messenger is its agent, and you will be pleased to part with a small part of this worldly life to obtain it. The part you lose is a small part of something that as a whole is not worth a mosquito’s wing.(Ibn al-Qayyim al Jawziyyah)

So beautifully put. May Allah have mercy on Ibn al-Qayyim's soul.

May Allah subhanahu wata'ala keep us firm upon the straight path. Ameen.

Was salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaathu :)

Imam Shafi - deathbed poem

Assalamualikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Insha'Allah you are all in the best of states,

Whilst clicking refresh, I came across this on Drops Of Wisdom:

إلَيكَ إلـهُ الخَلْـق أرْفَــعُ رَغبَتِي *** و‘نْ كُنتُ يَا ذا المَنّ والجُودِ مُجْرِما

‘To You, the Creator, I raise my longing,
And even if I am, O Possessor of kindness and generosity, an evildoer, a criminal

When my heart became constricted and my paths became narrow,
I took my hope in Your pardon and forgiveness as an opening and an escape

My sins seemed very great to me but when I compared them to Your forgiveness,
I found Your forgiveness to be much greater

You are and still remain the only One who can forgive sins,
You grant and forgive out of Your benevolence and generosity

Were it not for You, then a servant could never defy Iblis
And how can that be when he mislead Your friend Adam

If only I knew! Will I arrive at Paradise that I may take delight
Or at Hellfire, that I may regret?

How capable is Allah! For the one acquainted with lament,
blood almost flows from his eyelids due to the excess of his emotions (lament)

He stands when the night extends out its darkness
Stands against himself out of extreme fear, sinful

Eloquent when he makes mention of his Lord
And in the mention of others than Him, he is speechless

He remembers days gone by of his youth
And what was in it of ignorance, he was a criminal

And so for the whole of his day, the companion of grief has become
the brother of sleeplessness and secret conversation when the night darkens

He says, ‘My beloved, You are what I request and desire
You are enough of a longing and benefit for those who have hope

Are You not the One who has provided for me and guided me
And You have not ceased being gracious to me and full of favours

Perhaps the Beneficent One will forgive my mistakes
And cover up my crime and what has gone forth

My sins seemed very great to me, so I turned (to You) in humility
Were it not for my contentment in you, I wouldn’t, O my Lord, have seen any comfort at all

So if You forgive me, You would have forgiven a sinner,
A rebellious, oppressive tyrant still sinning

So if You were to seek revenge from me, I would not despair
Even if they entered my soul into Jahannum, due to the sins

For my crimes are great, past and present
But Your forgiveness comes to the servant, more exalted and more great

The bounty of Allaah surrounds me from all sides
And Light from the Most Merciful has spread in the sky

And in the heart is the radiance of the beloved when he is reunited
And when glad tidings draw close, it becomes feverish

Exhilaration surrounds me, only for Allaah
It overlooks me in the darkness of the grave, apparent and clear

I protect my love, lest my desires should pollute it
And I preserve the contract of love, lest it be defiled

In my wakefulness is yearning and in my slumber is destiny
That’s pursuing my footsteps in ecstasy

Whoever holds fast to Allaah, he is protected from men
And whoever hopes for Him, then never will he regret

Allahu Akbar! So beautifully put.

Hadith and Qur'anic Quotes on Backbiting

Asalaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaathu,

Insha'Allah you are all enjoying the blessings of Allah (swt).

Woe to every slanderer and backbiter! (Surah Humaza 104:1)

Listen! Allah is calling us: [O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: and spy not on each other, nor speak ill of each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it…But fear Allah, for Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.] – Surah Al-Hujurat, 12.

This could involve mockery and sarcasm. It is enough to remind those indulging in this practice of what Allah, the Most High said: “O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter is better than the former…” [Al-Hujurat 49:11] It could very well be that Allah loves them and does not love us.

Rasoolullah said, “A man might speak a word without thinking about its implications, but because of it, he will plunge into the Hell-Fire further than the distance between the east and west” (narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

So, backbiting (gheba) can even be making fun of a person. Rasoolullah sallalahu allayhi wassalam vigorously opposed all aspects of backbiting even when it occurred in his own family. For example, Aishah (ra) made a sign with her hand indicating to the Prophet sallalahu allayhi wassalam that the woman was short of stature. The Prophet immediately chastised her, saying “You have backbitten!” (Tirmidhi)

The Prophet sallalahu allayhi wassalam once asked, “Do you know what is backbiting?” The companions said, “Allah and His messenger know best.” The Prophet said, “To mention about your brother that which he hates.” They said, “If what we say about our brother is true?” He replied, “If there is in him what you say of him then that is backbiting, and if you say of him what is not true then you have slandered him.” (Muslim)

The prophet (saw) has clearly stated that “the gossip-monger will not enter paradise” (Bukhari, Muslim)

Let us consider what Cool Guy Muslim says:
“How lightly we take it when talking poorly about our own Muslim brothers and sisters! How many of us stay silent when someone else talks ill of our brothers and sisters in our presence? How many of us thinking it nothing to even roll our eyes when a name is mentioned. Saying something as simple as “may Allah guide him” with the wrong tone may be considered backbiting as it may be something that defames the honour of our Muslim brother or sister (however, it should be understood that this occurs only when a negative tone is used to make this statement). We need to defend our brothers and sisters when they are not present to defend themselves.”

May Allah subhanahu wata’ala save us from the punishment that is reserved for backbiters and gossip-mongers and may He have mercy on us. Ameen.

Insha’Allah make du’a for your sister,

Ma’asalam :)

The Beautiful Names of Allah (swt)

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Insha’Allah you are all enjoying the blessings of Allah subhanahu wata’ala.

This month’s Glorious Name is Al-Malik (The Sovereign).

“He is Allah; there is no god but He. He is the King.” (59:23)

Allah owns the universe and controls it. “Blessed be He in whose hand is the Kingdom; He has power over everything” (67:1). “To whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and He has not begotten a son, and he has no associate in His sovereignty” (25:2).

Allah is the Lord of all sovereignty. :Say: ‘O Allah, Master of the Kingdom, You bestow sovereignty on whom You will, and take it away from who You will.’“ (3:26)

The true meaning of Kingship is an attribute only of Allah. “Then exalted be Allah, the True King. There is no god but He, the Lord of the noble Throne.” (23:116)

It is solely by the will of Allah that men are given Kingship. “Allah gives Kingship to whom He will.” (2:247)

Allah is in need of nothing and of nobody. Yet, everybody and everything are in need of Him. :Say: ‘I take refuge with the Lord of men, the King of men, the God of men.’” (114:1-3)

To Him belong Kingship, majesty, power, and wealth. “So glory be to Him, who has control of all things, and to whom you shall all be recalled.” (36:83)

Allah is in need of nothing and of nobody. Yet, everybody and everything are in need of Him. :Say: ‘I take refuge with the Lord of men, the King of men, the God of men.’” (114:1-3)

Insha'Allah the day after tomorrow is Jumu'ah. Please make du'a for me :)

wasalaam

No Excuses

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmtullahi wa Barakatuh,

Insha’Allah you are all enjoying the blessings of Allah (swt),

Please watch the following video:

There is absolutely NO excuse, whatsoever, not to be aware of what goes on in the world today because our own brothers and sisters are treated so badly and it is a real shame when you come across people who don't know anything - who can't even take a few minutes to read the headlines to at least make du’a for what's going on. Why is it, that we can list off every celebrity, every TV show, new movies, new songs, but cannot for the life us, know what's going on in the Muslim world?

Then there are those who think Islam isn't about this - there are people who tell you it's wrong to "waste" time keeping up with what’s going on, to know what’s going on etc.! Islam is about worshiping One God - Allah (swt) and Allah (swt) has commanded us to want for our brothers and sisters what we want for ourselves. If we don't know what’s going on, how can we help? How can we at least, make du’a? Awareness is critical.

We watch Al-Jazeera a lot, so I first heard about this on Al-Jazeera, and then I found this youtube video, and I ask each and every one of you to take just a few minutes to watch this, and consider how your fellow Muslims are being treated - Just think about it - it could be you....but IT IS you! This man is OUR brother, our own brother... SubhanAllah.

Not to make this an essay, but trust me, it hurts me when I say "oh heard this news, heard that..." and I've come across people who can't tell you what Guantanamo even is! One person even asked my sister, "Is Guantanamo a song?" People don't know what's going on anywhere at all. Were happily wrapped in our own worlds - our own bubbles - but I have to remind everyone, me included and me first - when one part of the Ummah is in pain we all are affected - a single man's anguish is our anguish. The least we owe them - as Muslims, as our brothers and sisters, as HUMAN BEINGS - is du’a.

May Allah make it easy for this brother, his health is really bad, but insha’Allah we pray that he is happy, and the other two brothers too, who were released; Allahuma ansur ul muslimeen fi kulli makkan. Ameen.

P.S. I wrote this to get us all worked up...it wasn't meant to be rude or anything, so please forgive me and tell me if I did this the wrong way, I'd like to know. It’s just, this one video, makes us remember the plight of the others in that prison and insha’Allah we remember to make du’a for them. As much as the world wants to forget them, Allah SWT sees everything and we have to try not to forget.

Insha’Allah keep this brother in your du'as as today is Jumu’ah,

ma’asalaam =)
